TGIF & Currently Craving

I'm so excited it's Friday!  Thank goodness the work week has come to a close!  We had a fun week though so I shouldn't complain to much.
Morning giggles!
"More pictures, Mom?"
Holding her bottle like a big girl...can't believe how fast time flies!

Tice was able to get off of work before 5:30 every night so one of them we decided to go for a hike on a trail near our house.  Sawyer was in love with the activity so I can't wait for it to really warm up so that we can take him more this summer!

This weekend we plan to get a couple of things done around the house (story of my life!) before I leave on Wednesday for NYC!  I still haven't totally nailed down what I will be taking so that should be fun trying to figure out this weekend!

On another note here are a couple of things that I have been eyeing lately and would love picking up while I am in New York if possible...
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

#OOTN

Tonight we are celebrating my Grandma's 84th birthday so I decided to stop in and share with you what I am wearing!  We are keeping the festivities pretty low key so I decided to do the same with my outfit.  The only bit of wow factor that I have is the back of my blouse...which I am in love with!

Home Update...DIY Sliding Barn Door

We recently made a list of various projects that we wanted to get completed around the house sooner then later and have given ourselves a monthly budget in order to complete these items.  One of the bigger more urgent items was a sliding barn door at the bottom of the staircase that takes you up to the second floor of our home.  This second level is a 700 square foot bonus room with a large walk in closet and bath.   Tice has deemed the space his domain/the man cave and I have little to do with the decor of the room as one would be able to tell just by looking at it.... :).

The space is in need of a sound damping door so that when he is working up there his voice doesn't travel down the stairwell, potentially waking the children up or on the other hand distracting him while the kids are planning downstairs.  We finally decided that a sliding barn door would be the best solution because we could custom build the door to be the correct size- 34X102 inches.

We purchased a sliding track for the door from Home Depot as well as supplies to build the door.  It took Tice about 6 hours to complete the install and build but was all well worth it.

Once the track went up
The finished product-plus the hallway in the process of being painted!
Now on to the next home project.  Painting, painting, and more painting.  I am working on our great room which is over 1000 sq feet.  Boy will I be ready to cross it off of my list!

Outfit Inspiration...NYC Edition

My mom and I are taking a trip to NYC to visit my brother at the beginning on February so I have been taking advantage of tons of end of season sales and have picked up a couple of things in preparation.  I picked up these jeans (which I am in LOVE with-the fit is amazing) , as well as this pair-both from Piperlime.  In addition to my new denim from Piperlime I got this dress is such a neat color.  This inspiration photo came to mind as soon as I got it-

I plan on wearing my dress along with my hot pink heels as one of my outfits in the evening.

Another inspiration photo that I plan on recreating an outfit based on is this one-

I plan on wearing my new Paige skinny jeans, along with this new hat that I LOVE from Forever 21, as well as these booties.  This outfit will be one that I wear while we are out exploring the city one day.

Last but not least, one of the days we are there we scored tickets to see the Chew (the daytime cooking show on ABC) which will be followed by afternoon tea at the Russian Tea Room followed by a light dinner and finally the Book of Mormon on Broadway- aka a packed day!  Therefore it took me quite a while before deciding on what exactly I would be wearing because I wanted to be comfortable running all over town to the various events but also pulled together.  This is the direction that I am leaning-

I plan on wearing these J Brand jeans that I have as well as a grey and black leopard print scarf I that got at H&M when we were in Florence a couple of years ago.

We all know that packing, no matter how far in advance you think about it, seems to change at the last minute sometimes so we will have to see what exactly I end up packing!

Painting Party!

Sometimes it's the little things that you don't expect to be the most fun or a lasting memory but that is exactly what happened when we were at the store the other day.  Sawyer had been talking about wanting to paint lately so we went directly to the arts and crafts aisle where he proceeded to pick out a large Disney Planes coloring book as well as some washable paints.  That afternoon after lunch we went to town!

He had such a great time and I loved watching him do something he hadn't done before.  He doesn't like getting dirty/messy though so the fun was pretty short lived...about 5 minutes later he was asking for the paint to be washed off of his hands and to put it all away.

No matter...it's waiting for him to pull out again another day!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Kinley's Six Month Update

Weight: Her 6 month appointment was on Monday and she came in at 17 pounds 6.4 ounces.  That put her in the 72nd percentile!

Health:  She continues to be happy and healthy!  Hopefully it stays this way.

Sleep:  We have been struggling still, waking once or twice a night at various times.  I would love for her to start taking longer naps, right now they are typically 30-45 minutes long in the morning and no more then 2 hours in the afternoon.  Sawyer got on a routine and stayed on it much sooner then Kinley has so this has been rough to say the least.

Social:  She is such a little sweetheart and loves smiling at people after she warms up to them but is still the biggest momma's girl!  Tice and I went out to dinner a couple of weeks ago and my mother in law said as soon as we left she was looking all around for us and cried a lot!  Since that night though we have gone out quite a few times and things have gotten better!

Diet: She finally has started eating solids better.  She isn't just sticking her tongue out thinking but opening her mouth and then swallowing!  Some nights she will eat 6 ounces of baby food!  Right after her 6 month birthday we started bottle feeding her frozen breast milk through out the day because my body is pretty much telling me it's done breast feeding which to be honest, I'm 100% ok with.  We made it this far and I am still getting to feed her 3 times a day, just not for every feeding, which is fine by me!

Clothes: We can still wear certain 3-6 month outfits but has moved into most of her 6-9 month outfits!

Baby Gear:  She moves her activity center or laying on the floor on a blanket playing with various toys!

Crying:  She continues to be a good girl most of the time and only cries when she really needs something, is over tired, or something has scared her.

Likes:  Her brother Sawyer and the funny things he does on a daily basis, solid foods, and her activity center.

Postpartum:  I am super close to being able to say that I have lost all of the weight that I gained while I was pregnant with Kinley (2 pounds away)!  Since I have started to ween from breast feeding I have been able to watch what I am eating more and more as well as making sure I don't use the excuse that I am breast feeding to eat more then I should.  Hopefully I can get fully back on track soon and lose the remainder of this baby weight.

Milestones: Rolling over more then once in either direction and sitting up for extended periods of time!

Here are a couple more of my favorite pictures of her this month

D's Colorful Elephant Themed Baby Shower

As promised here are more pictures from the baby shower I co-hosted with my girlfriends Dani and Lynn this weekend.   Our girlfriend Danielle or D is expecting a little girl at the beginning of March and loves elephants so we decided to throw her a colorful elephant themed bash!  All of the pictures were taken by Dani, the owner and photographer of Birch and Twine.

How I Spent...My Weekend

Friday night the kids and I went out to dinner with my parents and after Sawyer had been doing so well lately at restaurants he pretty much lost it at dinner on Friday which was AWESOME considering I had just finished telling my parents how good he had been lately...after dinner we headed straight home so that I could get some finishing touches put together for a baby shower I was co hosting on Saturday afternoon.  Tice's flight from Portland was delayed on Friday night so he didn't end up coming home until Saturday afternoon which totally sucks for both of us!  Since he didn't make it home in time to take care of the kids I was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off getting ready for the shower.  Thankfully my mother in law took Sawyer for me during the shower and I took Kinley with me so it ended up being ok.  Here is a sneak peek of one of the pictures from the shower- I will be back later this week to share more from the special day!
My extremely talented girlfriend Dani, who was one of the other co-hosts for the shower, recently started her own photography business called Birch and Twine.  She takes some of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen and I can't wait for her to take pictures of the kids birthday parties this summer as well as Kinley's one year birthday pictures.

Once I got home from the shower Tice was home so we changed into PJ's and hung out around the house, relaxing for the rest of the day.  Finally on Sunday I hit up the gym and then prepped Sunday dinner.  We had my mother in law and her boyfriend over for short ribs, mashed potatoes and wedge salads (one of my favorite salads of all time!).

TGIF

Sorry for the radio silence this week...Tice has been away for most of the week for work in Portland so I have been busy holding down the fort.  I have however managed to squeeze in some home improvement projects while he has been gone, for example painting our half bath as well as our hallway coming in from the garage.  I used HGTV paint from Serwin Williams (which is the best paint ever by the way-only needed 1 coat for complete coverage!) in Bungalow Beige.

And here are some "after" pictures

I think this last shot is best able to show the actual color.  It is amazing how painting the walls has made the rooms seem so much lighter and larger!

I was also lucky enough to pick up a couple of different items during Piperlime's extra 60% off all sale items!  I picked up these jeans.  I have never owned a pair of Paige denim before before but have always wanted to and have loved this particular pair on one of my girlfriends.  The best pair is that if they don't work out I can return these ones!  I also had been lusting over a faux leather dress since last August so when I saw this one on major markdown in such a neat color so I snatched it up too!

Finally, when I was uploading these home improvement photos I also get to take a look at the pictures I took on NYE.  We enjoyed the new snow in our backyard and then went to Glenwood Springs for the day, enjoyed the hot springs, which are the largest in the world and then joined some friends for dinner at The Pullman House downtown.
