Cocktail Time... Bangkok Mules

I absolutely love a Moscow Mule!  They are beyond refreshing on a hot summer day and are super simple to make.  I had seen a couple of variations on Pinterest of mules, some with herbs or fruit so I decided to come up with my own variation using both!  I call it a Bangkok Mule because it has a lot of Thai influence in terms of the ingredients I use.  Here is the recipe-

Bangkok Mule

2 Tablespoons of Coconut Milk 

(light or full fat- I have used both but this time I only had light on hand)

2 oz vodka
1 Teaspoon of simple syrup

Juice of 1 lime

Cilantro 10-15 leaves

Mint 5-10 leaves
Ginger Beer
Copper Mug

Start by muddling the lime juice, coconut milk, mint and cilantro leaves in the bottom of the copper mug then pour in vodka, simple syrup, and ice.  Finish the cocktail by pouring ginger beer to the top.

Thank goodness it's Friday!  I am heading off for a much deserved massage this morning and then we plan on heading to the club this afternoon after nap time for some swimming and cocktails!  In honor of the fact that I can have a couple of cocktails now and then since Kinley has arrived I found this yummy cocktail recipe that I can't wait to try this weekend!

  Tice is going to be in a golf tournament on Saturday so Sawyer, Kinley and I will most likely head over to my parents and doing something with my mom.  Other then that, we don't have any plans which is nice!

I might try and narrow down more of my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and then make another purchase before the sale ends on August 4th sometime this weekend.  I couldn't resist this elbow patch sweater and order this the other day too!

This week felt like I was able to get a ton accomplished!  I finished up the renew grout project that I had been working on since last weekend and Tice and I both think it turned out great!  Here are some pictures of our finished product.

So if you remember this is what the grout looked like when we started:

And one last shot, one which Sawyer really wanted to be in and then just stared at his feet the whole time!  haha

I noticed that because you have to go line by line of grout and paint the product in, it was a huge pain when it came to our tile because of the shape.  We have tile that has a V shape where it meets each other (it dips down of the top of the tile) and because of that it was difficult for me to paint each line the same.

The weekend is almost here and I couldn't be more excited!  I have a much needed girls night happy hour tonight and tomorrow is packed with a birthday party for one of Sawyer's friends as well as a retirement party for the man who will be handing his clients over to Tice in April!  Plus we are finishing up the painting of our master bedroom and bath.  I can't wait to share those pictures with you!

In honor of the weekend I decided to share with you a cocktail that I really, really, REALLY wish I could have now that our weather is getting a bit warmer!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I was watching the Chew on ABC this week and one of the cocktails that Michael Symon created at the end of one of the episodes was a drink with bourbon, apple cider, and ginger beer.  It looked fantastic and I can't wait to serve it at our pre-thanksgiving day dinner on Tuesday.   Although they didn't post a recipe on the Chew's website for it I was able to find something similar on Bon Appetit's here:

 Tice's brother is going to be in town so we are hosting 15 people on Tuesday night for a pre-family get together!  I can't wait!

Then on Wednesday my aunt, uncle, and cousins will be arriving so this weekend looks like it will be all about getting ready for next week! Plus tomorrow is my dad's birthday so we will be helping him ring in his 59th year!  I also plan on creating some DIY Christmas presents this weekend and getting them all wrapped up before Monday when family and friends start flooding into town!  Thanksgiving is seriously my favorite holiday and I can't wait for all of the festivities to begin.  The only thing that will be missing is my brother but he will be home around Christmas so FaceTime will have to do in the meantime.

This week was filled with a couple of first for Sawyer...his first golf clubs, his first time identifying a body part, and his first time eating nachos!  Last night I made some killer nachos which I will post the recipe to early next week!  Holy sinful!  I also had a couple of guava margaritas which were awesome!

Guava Margarita 

Ingredients:

1 oz of blanca tequilla

1/2 fresh lime

1/2 can of guava nector

1 tsp of agave

Sugar for rimming the glass

Ice

Rim glass with lime juice and then coat rim with sugar.  Mix all of the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker with 1/2 cup of ice.  Pour in your sugar rimmed glass and enjoy!

This week went by quickly and I am looking forward to having a girls night with my mom on Saturday.  Manis, happy hour, and a movie are on our agenda.

TGIF...Fall Front Door Decor and Shipyard Pumpkin Ale

In addition to the fall decor I created for above our fireplace I also decided to give our front door a bit of a makeover for fall.  I purchased two planters from Target in the clearance area for $30 each.  Still a bit spendy but for something I can use year round I decided it was worth it.  I then placed two leaf picks in each planter, placed a faux white pumpkin which I grabbed from Michaels (left picks $2 each- I grabbed 4 and $15 each for the pumpkins).  With the planters completed I moved on to the door.  I grabbed 4 yards of decorative ribbon and then used that to hang four decorative letters that I printed from my computer onto card stock at varying lengths.  I love how it turned out!

In addition to the fall decor the other thing that is making it feel like fall around here is the shipment of Shipyard Pumpkin Ale that I received last week.  It is the absolute best pumpkin ale that I have ever had and I turn it up a notch by doing the following.

Shipyard Pumpkin Ale with a Spiced Rim
Need:
1 12 Oz bottle of Shipyard Pumpkin Ale
Raw Sugar
Pumpkin Pie Spice
Orange Slice

Take a frosty mug, rim the glass with some of the juice from your orange slice then dip it in a mixture of equal parts sugar and pumpkin pie spice.  Finally pour your beer in the glass and place orange slice on the edge!

This is my favorite fall beverage ever so try this one before all of the pumpkin ales are sold out!
